News has emerged why Nigeria's largest Online Media Association, Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) has been invited to attend this year’s Diaspora Day slated for Friday the 27th of April, 2018 in Beijing, China.
In a statement signed by Mr Byran Akiri, President, Nigerians In Diaspora Organization (NIDO) China Chapter, NIDO explains that OMPAN and affiliate organizations has been helping to harness the Nigerian community home and in diaspora for national development; in the same way, Nigerians In Diaspora Organization (NIDO) China Chapter, since its inception in May 2017, has been actively focused on the welfare of the Nigerian community in China, promoting cultural exchange and positive bilateral interactions with the Host nation of China.
The event which is organised by Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation(NIDO) and hosted by the Nigerian Ambassador to China, Ambassador Baba Ahmad Jidda will have in attendance Business mogul and politician, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu as the keynote Speaker and other prominent guests such as Senior Special Adviser to the president on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and Chairman House Committee on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Hon. Rita Orji.
The event which is expected to kick off at 11a.m., will attract top Nigerian government officials and their Chinese counterparts, the diplomatic community and Nigerians in China, will also provide a platform for networking and building of new relationships.
In his response, Ismaila Yahaya Kana, OMPAN National PRO, commended NIDO China Chapter for their effort in uniting Nigerians In China and wishes to state that for the sake of Nigeria; for the sake of bilateral relationship and mutual international development, it would honour the invitation as its delegation would be led by the National President, Mr Emeh James Anyalekwa.
According to OMPAN, this invitation no doubt is a testimonial to the growing influence of the online media in shaping opinions by opening up new channels for information dissemination and also affording Nigerians additional platforms for a robust national discussion.
“Let it be on record from this moment on that OMPAN has come to stay and in addition to regulating the online conduct of Online Media Practitioners, it is willing to partner any/all institution(s) both here in Nigeria and in the diaspora that wishes to engender the functional development of Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.” The PRO stated.
The Diaspora Day, which is organised by the Nigerians In Diaspora Organization (NIDO) China Chapter is aimed at uniting Nigerians in the diaspora.
