On the event of the International Youths day, the Initiative For Change & Development(ICD) salutes the youths of Rivers state. We urge all youths to down their tools of violence, let them channel their strength and time into schooling, acquiring of vocational skills, doing business, engaging government in constructive criticisms that will enable it sit-up to its duties.
As a group saddled with the responsibility of keeping a watch on government in order that adequate and rightful policies that will drive change and development to the people be put in place, we are saying that the youths are veritable class of humans in the growth of society and as such should be carried along in all government activity.
We admonish the government of Rivers state to roll-out scholarship programmes that will enable youths in the state go about studying, vocational training should be part of it, employment generation should take the lead, it should embark on realistic amnesty programmes, there should be provision of loans, it should engage the in youths small and medium scale business, government should organise workshops and symposia for the youths to be property oriented and adequately guided.
