The socio-political and development watchdog known as the Initiative For Change & Development(ICD) is calling on the government of Rivers state to judiciously inject the N34.9b Paris club refund money into meaningful projects in the state.
Chief among the projects are;
*payment of workers salaries up to date and releasing constituency allowances of the opposition APC lawmakers for them to help drive development to the people,
* Revoking the state's overseas scholarship scheme and free education policy for students from primary to secondary schools.
* Building of all those roads in the state that it deprived the NDDC of building for close to 2yrs now, other roads too,
* Drawing inspiration from Gov. Ayade of Cross Rivers state in continuing the Mono-rail project since government is continuity,
* compensating families of the beheaded citizens of the state and putting-up realistic measures to curb killings ,
* Setting-up and building of more government institutions, but this time locate them at the rural areas in order for development to ensue there,
* Build/repair more streets and traffic lights,
* Build bridges in so many of those areas in the state that require it, in order for easy transportation,
* Even distribution of funds to civil society groups,
* Servicing of some debts owed by the state government,
* & others.
ICD uses the opportunity to thank the BUHARI-led federal government for being strongly apolitical in the distribution of the Paris club fund going by the overt and glaring fact that Rivers state which is led by the opposition PDP, got the highest amount of the money. That is purely bringing to practice, actuality and fruition, the "I am for nobody and for everybody" standpoint of Mr. President.
ICD at same time urges the government of Rivers state to emulate the non prebendalistic approach to governance of PMB
,adding that it will help the state develop faster and better.
