Disqualify Dickson now

PRESS RELEASE:

 DISQUALIFY SERIAKE DICKSON NOW: For violating electoral laws.

The attention of the Niger Delta People's Movement has been drawn to the news making the rounds relating to total disrespect and violation of electoral process by Governor Seriake Dickson and his team.

  It is highly inappropriate and total disregard to existing electoral laws and process, for Governor Seriake Dickson who is a Governorship candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the ongoing Gubernatorial race in Bayelsa State to advertently visit the lNEC office last night and Southern Ijaw to enforce a last minute campaign and incitement for his aspiration.

We were reliably informed that, Governor Seriake Dickson in company of the Speaker of House of Assembly, Mr. Kombowei Benson who is from Southern ljaw early this morning also led a large team of his supporters to Oporoma, the headquarters of Southern ljaw Local Government Area, to protest against the rescheduled election.

We are aware that, Governor Seriake Dickson is from Sagbama Local Government Area, where he is protected by electoral law to venture out and cast his vote without violating electoral laws.

We wish to categorically state that, Dickson deliberately threw caution to the winds when he and his campaign team went to disrupt the collation process by INEC officials. This singular act by Seraike  Dickson and his team contravenes the electoral laws and process.

Therefore, the Niger Delta People's Movement is calling on the appropriate authority INEC to disqualify Governor Seriake Dickson for inciting violence, campaigning on election ground, disrupting electoral process and results collation.

We stand for a free and fair election in Bayelsa State.
