PRESIDENT BUHARI'S DIRECTIVE FOR SECURITY TO BE BEEFED UP IN  RIVERS STATE; A WELCOME DEVELOPMENT - INITIATIVE FOR CHANGE & DEVELOPMENT (ICD)

*---Rivers State Government Should Learn.*

You would agree with us that on the basis of the inglorious 2017 new year day Omoku attack, President Buhari yesterday the 5th of January 2017 sent the Minister of Interior Alhaji Dambazu to Rivers State in order to ascertain the degree  of destruction of lives that took place. Mr president has again directed the Inspector General of Police to beef up security in parts of Rivers State, Onelga LGA in particular.

For us in the *Initiative For Change &Development(ICD)*, the moves by Mr. President to beef up security in parts of Rivers State is a welcome development, as we believe that it will bring about calm, and some of those perpetrators of such heinous acts and their sponsors would be apprehended. On that note, we urge the government of Rivers State to learn how to carry out its paramount duty of protecting lives of citizens of the state. If it lacks ideas on security, then the federal government is there to help, it should synergize properly and unbiasly with the state and federal police institutions in order to put our Rivers state aright security wise. We have said before and we reiterate that what is key in governance is development and since that is true, there has to be peace in the state, individuals and multinational companies ought to have the enabling environment to go about their businesses. If the enabling environment is made available, government purse will surely be boosted, revenue will be on the increase and developmental projects will comfortably be financed.
