It is no longer a new story in *Rivers State* that the *Initiative For Change & Development(ICD)* being a group that is poised with the objectives of idealising, putting-up and acting out strategies that would drive the much needed change & development in society, have consistently and repeatedly urged the *Rivers State Waste Management Agency(RIWAMA)* to device and implement means of putting an end to the littering or dumping of refuse at the middle of some Major roads in the State. It is quite a *Big Shame* and a show of *Gross Incompetence* that *RIWAMA* has continued to ignore the advice with impunity.
We use this medium to again register our displeasure with regard to the height of *Unprofessional Services* coming from the State's waste management agency . Why would the *Street Light Basements* which are at the middle of roads, be used as dump sites? Such an unholy and inglorious tradition is capable of depleting the economy of any society.
We are deeply worried about the manner in which refuse are still being flaunted along major roads of *Rivers State*, thereby making it look dirty at all times.
This high level of incompetence and less performance by *RIWAMA* has continued for about two years now, thereby putting the Rivers people in a mess of health and economic deterioration. As such, we call on the managers of *RIWAMA* to *Get Serious* with their work or resign their appointments. *RIWAMA* should consult relevant authorities on the the way to go in order to put *Rivers State*on its rightful place. It should provide dumpsites and more pits. If that is done, the rate of diseases/health related deaths will be reduced, the stay and even attraction of more investors to the State will be boosted, for onward development.
