There is a saying that goes that
"Where there is no peace amongst a people, it is difficult for progress to set-in". If that assertion is quite correct, then it behoves on us as people of Rivers State to dissociate ourselves from activities that will hamper our peaceful co-existence in order for development and good governance to take place.
We must stop the various groups and ethnic fights. What happened at the Oyigbo LGA of Rivers State some days back is not a good story to tell. The IPOBs had confrontations with the Arewa people in that LGA and it resulted in killing and burning of houses.
As a people, we cannot grow speedily when platforms for destruction are obviously in existence. In Rivers State, people are being kidnapped and killed almost on daily basis, as a result of cult clashes and political undertones.
As a group that subscribes to peace and order in society, we are saying that the killing must stop. We therefore call on the Rivers State government to wake-up on the very issue of insecurity that is ravaging the state. It should work in synergy with the police in order to put a stop to the unholy acts of kidnapping and killing that has encapsulated the state.
