Dr. Austine Tam-George, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication has just resigned. No official reason was given for his resignation. However, Dr. Tam-George has disclosed to very close friends and relatives that his decision borders on personal conviction and principle. He confirmed to them that Governor Nyesom Wike had instructed him on Monday to go on air to say somethings about the Wife of the former Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi, which he considered a bit extreme as a husband and father. He said, the information apart from being lies, were unacceptable to him as a person. According to the source, Dr. Tam-George said he would have appreciated and understood if the information were about Rotimi Amaechi himself, who is a politician like them, but could not see any reason why he should slander an "innocent woman".
Since he would not yield to that instruction, Governor Wike advised him to resign for insubordination and he just did.
