GOVERNOR WIKE MAY HAVE RELEASED N385,000,000 TO SPONSOR UNREST IN SOUTH SOUTH AGAINST THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

The rift between the opposition Rivers State Government led by Chief Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the Federal Government might be taking a more worrisome dimension as the former might be out for a revolution to bring down the latter. You will recall that in the wake of the 2011 revolutions in some countries that led to the pulling down and dethroning of their National Governments, including Egypt, Nigerians embarked on a protest tagged "OCCUPY NIGERIA" to protest the "removal of fuel subsidy". That protest was immediately arrested and normalcy returned as soon as the Federal Government led by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan reversed himself and returned the subsidy.

Curiously, the story is different this time. What possibly would the protest this time be about? It appears that some opposition members are sponsoring and planning to overthrow and unseat the present Federal Government led by Mohammadu Buhari. Unconfirmed sources have it that immediately after a delegation of opposition members, including serving Senators visited Rivers State, information began to slip out of a plan to embark on a protest with the intention of dethroning a legally constituted President. The information also had it that the Governor of Rivers State, who seems to be the war chest, opted to start the protest, while the other states would follow thereafter. The Governor also elected to contact other opposition Governors, while one of the serving Senators and a former Governor opted to reach out to opposition members of the National Assembly to support the move. The information which started as rumor is gradually playing out as reality and if it is so, then it might just be the beginning of a major and serious National Security challenge, that will not only impact negatively on the entire country but also the entire continent and indeed the globe.

A very reliable source, who gave his name as Akadu Wechie revealed that Governor Wike had approved the sum of N585million, but however released an initial sum of N385million to some selected youths in the State to organize a protest which is tagged OCCUPY NIGERIA Season 2 and that the Governor promised to release the balance of N200million following the performance and outcome of the first two days of the protest.

According to the source, the protest is planned to begin another round of militancy and unrest in the whole of South South and South East as to make the Country ungovernable for the present Federal Government, should they not succeed to unseat the Government. He further alleged that bulk of the money would be applied to mobilize youths from across the region. "The whole plan is to make the country ungovernable. Our leader said that using Biafra will be too pronounced and sensitive, so let us start with Occupy Nigeria and then gradually militants agitating for Biafra will takeover the protest. In fact they want to use it to launch militancy again and it will be bloody this time"

He added, "it is not a child's play. The Governor is using all his main people to coordinate the protest like Chief of Staff Emeka Woke, Simeon Nwakandu, SA electronic media, Oraye Franklyn, SA social media, Livingstone Wechie my cousin, one member of CLO Chiedu Uchegbu, the President of the Non-Indigenous People in Rivers State and others that I don't know"

The source added that the protest, if care is not taken might turn violent. He said, "the protest will not be a child's play. Most of these 'notorious boys' will be there. The plan is that if soldiers or police try anything then they will be engaged. There will be much arms to engage them"

He added that the Chief of Staff advised the coordinators to make the process appear to the people as civil as possible; and that they should use both the social media and newspapers to advertise the OCCUPY NIGERIA Protest. He claimed that the adverts have already flooded the social and electronic media and by Monday the advert would begin to appear on daily newspapers. He maintained that the protest is being sponsored by the Rivers State Government. He said, "...like now they have sent people to some big printing Press and to Aba for T-Shirts, caps, flyers, they have arranged for busses and trailers that will move around the streets with musical bands to mobilize people, and a very big stage. Who is paying for all these, my cousin Livingstone, abi Lagos State Government or Shell or Agip abi MTN or GLO?"

When he was asked why he was not scared to give his really name he said: "I want the security agencies to know about the plot and to take it serious, because if things go as planned it is intended to cause serious breakdown of order. I have informed SSS but I don't know whether they will take it serious. I have also advised my cousin Livingstone not to be involved with anything that will affect the Nation, but he said I am a coward. I know that there is plenty of money to be made from the process, but I have an aged parent and my family. I don't think I know how to handle all of them if the situation gets out of hands"

Attempts to reach Chief Emeka Woke, Chief of Staff Government House did not yield much as his call was taken by his aide who promised to get back to us with a response. Until this publication was filed neither the Chief of Staff nor his aide got back to us. However, Livingstone Wechie on his part, in a phone call chat, confirmed that plans have been concluded to hold a protest on Thursday. He however denied that the State Government was sponsoring them. He said; "what do u mean by State Government gave us money. It is not true. We got money from individuals". Then asked to name some of the individuals he said "that is not your business. All you should know is that we are ready for that protest. You can come and cover it if you like"

The police on their part claim that they have no information on any planned protest at the time of this report. Whatever is the case, this is a serious national security issue and should not be swept aside by the wave of hand. Relevant Security Agencies must investigation the information and nip it in the bud while there is time. The Federal Government must also rise to the occasion and begin to address some of these security issues as importantly as they are. The continent and the globe will be no less affected should there be any national crisis in Nigeria. Therefore, they must not continue to remain bystanders while the nation is thrown into serious national security crisis. All must act now.
