The Niger Delta People's Movement have observed with great disdain the unpatriotic statement emanating from few corrupt minded individuals whose stock-in-trade is aiding and abetting corruption and corrupt practices. Regrettably, this league of corrupt individuals are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Dame lbim Semenetari the acting Managing Director of NDDC for reasons that are obviously not tenable.
We wish to remind those perpetrators of discord and hate sentiments, that Dame lbim Seminitari is a bonifade daughter of the Region and a seasoned technocrat who has made her mark on the Sands of time. The President has the constitutional prerogative to appoint and terminate the appointment of an incompetent official whose financial transactions are questionable. No group of individuals or organization has the single authority to disengage the acting Managing Director of NDDC other than the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari.
The Niger Delta People's Movement therefore, wish to Categorically state without fear that, their call for lbim's replacement was borne out of fear of being exposed by Dame lbim Seminitari given their shady and shameful dealings with the former Managing Director when he was in office.
We call on the President to discountenance the hate and vendetta mission of those retrogressive elements who have vowed to cause disaffection in Rivers State and the Niger Delta region. We urge you Mr President not to harken to their selfish demand, as majority of Nigerians including the Niger Delta People's Movement are in full support of your appointing Dame lbim Seminitari and also your fight against corruption which was the reason behind the sacking of Mr Dan Abia, the former MD of NDDC.
Furthermore, we call on those clamoring for the sack of the acting Managing Director Dame lbim Seminitari to desist forthwith and join hands with her to develop the Niger Delta region. The NDDC is a strategic Commission that requires the leadership of a transparent and knowledgeable technocrat and we laud the pro-active strength of character exhibited by the President to effect changes where weak links are pronounced.
Thank you Mr President for your choice of a woman of substance, Dame lbim Seminitari.
