Security agencies, this afternoon, repelled an attack on Ekeremor community by unknown gunmen.
The thugs who came with eight speedboats, four heavily armed men in a speedboat, maneuvered their way through the army marine checkpoints to launch the attack.
The attack was aimed at burning down the Ekeremor INEC office and the house of the Hon Minister Of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, to assassinate leaders of the Sylva/Igiri campaign team and to create the illusion of violence to keep voters indoors on Saturday.
The attackers, overpowered by security agencies, fled, but threatened to regroup for the eventual burning down of INEC facilities in the LGA
It should be recalled that on the eve of the elections of December 5th, gunmen stormed Ekeremor community in an attempt to assassinate the Hon. Minister and torch INEC materials.
