The revelation that Rivers PDP has approved and distributed the sum of 50 million naira to ignite a half-hearted protest against APC and the person of the Most Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe over the ongoing security operations that have reached Ogoni and the MOSOP crisis is to say the least very devilish, mischievous, disheartening and unfortunate. I say that for four reasons:
1) It is said that of the amount disbursed for the needless protest, 10 million naira each has been distributed to four of the Ogoni LGAs of Khana, Gokana, Tai and Eleme. Ten million is disbursed to a central working committee for the smear plot, a committee peopled by a serving Commissioner from Ogoni in the service of Rivers State government and a rattled Senatorial candidate who is facing imminent disgrace at the polls. Now, this is why the plan is devilish. In which of the Ogoni LGAs has Nyesom the Wike government spent up to 10 million naira for any development project?
2. I say that this plan is mischievous. What value has the characters involved added to Ogoni for the positions they hold and the one they are pursuing? The serving Commissioner from Ogoni involved in this senseless plot has not only been relegated to the second eleven of the Wike government, he also has no impact in his own community since he was appointed. The senatorial candidate has no legacy of achievement anywhere in Ogoni or even in his own LGA. That is the level of the mischief I talked about, which is unacceptable!
3. I say that the destabilization plot is disheartening because it's always misguided Ogoni youths that politicians within and without use any time they feel like unleashing mayhem and carrying out their mischievous agenda. Why is Felix Obuah who is coordinating this evil plot via the PDP or Nyesom Wike who is financing it not planning protests in Orashi and Obio/Akpor respectively? Have security operations not been carried out in their LGAs and ethic groups? Why is Ogoni land always the dumping ground of their evil? Why is Ogoni the only place they want to go when they intend to unleash confusion and unrest, yet they are always willing to deny our people the benefit of any good thing?
4. I say that this plot is unfortunate because the Ogoni youths are the most disadvantaged in the whole of Rivers State. Is that why they are treated as elements can only be used for violence and destruction? How many Ogoni youths have positions of responsibility in government today? Compare Ogoni youths with their peers from other ethnic groups in Rivers State and you will discover that Ogoni youths are backward because they are always lending themselves to be engaged in unwholesome activities. This must stop.
The whole idea if this smear plot and protest is reprehensible, wicked and dubious. Our people must resist agents of darkness who are bent on using them to achieve their own end!
Let PDP and all those involved in this unholy plot utilize the 50 million naira to do something meaningful for our people rather engaging our youths and objects of ridicule.
