BAYELSA GUBER ELECTION: GOVERNOR DICKSON MEETS CHIEF OF STAFF AT THE VILLA, BEGS BUHARI FOR SOFT-LANDING

BAYELSA GUBER ELECTION: GOVERNOR DICKSON MEETS CHIEF OF STAFF AT THE VILLA, BEGS BUHARI FOR SOFT-LANDING Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, made a surprise visit to the Presidential villa, Abuja on Tuesday, in an apparent move to lobby President Muhammadu Buhari over the January 9th re-run election in the state. President Buhari, who had received series of abuses and name calling from Gov. Dickson, however, refused to grant audience to the desperate and violence-prone candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the ongoing gubernatorial election in Bayelsa state. Governor Dickson, had repeatedly alleged that President Buhari wanted to use federal might, including the military and police to rig the election in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, former Governor Timipre Sylva. Sources in the Presidential villa, Abuja, reports that many people were surprised to see Governor Dickson around, having stayed away from the villa for the past weeks. Information available indicates that Mr. Dickson’s request to meet the President was turned down and he was rather directed to meet the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abba Kyari, for his mission. Our investigations reveal that, Governor Seriake Dickson, is quite unsettled ahead of the January 9th re-run election in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, which is a stronghold of the APC and he is now reportedly looking for a soft-landing after the eventual loss of the Bayelsa governorship seat. Dickson may have told the Chief of Staff that he was at the villa to apologise for his treasonable felony utterances during the election which had brought unwarranted embarrassment to the President, who clearly had no hand in the conduct of the election in Bayelsa State. Reacting to the visit of Governor Dickson to the villa, the Director of Media and Publicity of the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation of the APC, Chief Nathan Egba, said President Buhari should be wary of the desperate Dickson, whose main plan is to win the election through the use of violence. According to Chief Egba, Nigerians have now formed a very negative impression about the aggressive Governor, who is adept at intimidating and harassing people to support his second term ambition, while beating up public officers like the Southern Ijaw LGA Chairman, Chief Remember Ogbe for not delivering the area in the cancelled polls. Chief Egba, expressed confidence that the APC candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, would win convincingly in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and the other 101 polling units across the State, because Bayelsa people are yearning to be part of the national change movement.
